Here at Washington Academy we aim to make transition throughout the academy as easy and seamless as possible. We have an excellent primary transition programme starting in Year 1 at primary school and supporting the students all the way in to Year 7 at secondary.

Although the majority of our students join us from our partner primary schools, we are always pleased to welcome students from other primary schools in Sunderland, the UK, and even other parts of the world.

Primary Liaison Transition Team

Our Liaison Team works in collaboration with primary staff and parents to ensure we provide students and parents with the key information they will need to make the decision to come to Washington. 

We get to know students (and many parents) before they become part of the Washington family so, when they do join us they feel happy, confident, and ready to learn. Parents can be assured of a close working relationship between home and the academy.

We have been pleased to host a range of exciting primary liaison events over the last few years and welcome potential students to Washington.
